-I first designed this cake to be colorful, like a Mexican sugar skull, common in Day of the Dead celebrations. When David Tutera made the color scheme White, Black and Red only, I wasn’t sure if this would translate to my design....Boy was I happy with the outcome! The white on white glittered design really was striking and elegant.
The cake was covered with a rolled white chocolate fondant. The glittery roses were hand-made sugar flowers, and even the black lace was hand made...and EDIBLE!
The skull was entirely edible as well, sculpted using Rice Krispie treats, modeling chocolate and rolled chocolate fondant.
