When art and sugar met up, magic happened.

We didn't start off showcasing our work on Food Network on Ridiculous Cakes, or featuring owner, Kimberly Bailey on Judging panels on FN's most amazing cake shows like Buddy vs. Duff 2 and Wedding Cake Championship!  Nope.  The humble beginnings of The Butter End began in a 200 square foot guest cottage in Venice, CA.

Just after moving to LA from NYC, Kimberly was dealt her first round of breast cancer.   Not one to lay down and let the disease get the best of her, she poured all of her creativity and love of life into learning how to design and decorate cakes.  It was a therapy that soothed her soul and those around her.  It didn't take long for her new passion to fuel her joy, and take over her life!

She quickly learned that when you bake for those you love, they don't worry about you, and they feel happy.  From that time on, whenever anyone asks her what she does, she replies "I make happy."

In 2010 the doors of The Butter End opened in Los Angeles.

The Butter End remains a small but mighty team of women who pull together as a family to create magical and delicious cakes, executed with a level of uncompromising perfection.

In the past ten years, The Butter End has become one of the most renowned custom cake shops in the world.  We create custom works of art for celebrities and Hollywood studios, and we take just as much pride in creating two tier buttercream cakes for backyard weddings.

The next chapter of The Butter End is an exciting one!  With the launch of our new Semi-Custom cake line, the ability to order cakes online, and an expanded offering of classes hosted in our beautiful studio in Gardena, we invite you to come along for the ride!
